About Us

Since our founding in February 1987, Atlantis Kitchens has been a trusted, family-owned business dedicated to excellence. As a premier kitchen cabinet supplier, we combine competitive pricing, exceptional service, and an extensive range of high-quality products tailored to every style and budget. We take pride in serving property companies, builders, designers, and homeowners across New York and the East Coast.

Who owns Atlantis Kitchens?

Atlantis Kitchens was established in February 1987 by twenty-year-old Jimmy Gavalas. The company became a leading cabinet supplier to the trade, with a growing team to support its success. As the staff expanded, Jimmy found himself focused on management rather than his true passion: designing kitchens and selling cabinets. To realign with his love for the craft, he streamlined operations, and today, Atlantis Kitchens thrives with an experienced, lean team.
Jimmy’s son and partner, Yianni Gavalas, brings his own expertise to the business. After seven years running the company’s cabinet shop, Yianni transitioned to design and sales. His hands-on experience in cabinet-making, combined with growing up in the family business, gives him a distinctive edge in the kitchen cabinet industry.

Every set of cabinets sold reflects the personal touch and expertise of both Jimmy and Yianni, ensuring quality and care with each order.

Why is the company named Atlantis Kitchens?

The name “Atlantis Kitchens” might seem unusual for a kitchen cabinet company, but it has a thoughtful origin. In the late 1980s, when the Yellow Pages were a key marketing tool, a name starting with “A” ensured top placement, giving the business a competitive edge.
Founder Jimmy Gavalas, a Greek-American and son of immigrants, drew inspiration from his heritage.
Atlantis holds significance in Greek culture as a legendary island mentioned in ancient Greek texts by the philosopher Plato. For Greeks today, Atlantis remains a cultural touchstone, often tied to discussions of their ancient heritage.
Blending a marketing strategy with a nod to his Greek roots, Jimmy named the company Atlantis Kitchens.

Company Philosophy

Atlantis Kitchens launched in an era dominated by retail giants like Home Depot, Home Expo, and Lowe’s. As a smaller player, we carved our niche by offering superior service and unbeatable pricing that larger competitors couldn’t match. This customer-first mindset fueled our rise to becoming a top-tier kitchen cabinet supplier. Today, we stay true to our roots, providing exceptional service and prices that are hard to beat.
