Most kitchen cabinet doors are comprised of five pieces of wood, MDF, or a combination of both. The framing of the door is four pieces. The center panel is another piece and even that is sometimes made up of multiple pieces. All these parts expand and contract based on the moisture that is absorbed or released. When painted, the stress cracks are inevitable where the door components are adjoined as paint is a rigid finish with no movement.
ONE by Atlantis is our painted cabinet door program where the doors are made from one piece of MDF. Unlike 5-piece doors, a one-piece MDF door does not develop stress cracks. One-piece MDF cabinet doors are made with a CNC machine. A 3/4” panel of paint grade MDF is placed on the router table. Doors are milled and cut out of the material. The result is a perfectly cut door that is made of one complete solid piece of material.
ONE by Atlantis is recommended if you value consistency and if you want cabinet doors looking the same for many years. The doors finish very handsomely and can stand the test of time in most kitchen and bath conditions. This is also a great choice in areas with humidity fluctuations as the ONE by Atlantis doors perform well in all levels of humidity.
The ONE by Atlantis program offers five door samples in five standard colors. We also offer the option to choose almost any paint color offered by the major paint brands.
