MSI’s New High-Definition Printed Countertops: A Closer Look at Q+

At Atlantis Kitchens, we regularly evaluate new surface materials that pair well with the cabinetry we supply. One of the more interesting recent developments from MSI is their Q+ collection—an engineered countertop surface that uses advanced high-definition inkjet print technology to achieve a level of realism and detail not typically seen in standard quartz or engineered stone. We now offer Q+ as part of the surface options available through our company.

What makes Q+ different

Traditional engineered quartz relies on a combination of natural quartz crystals, resins, and pigments mixed throughout the slab. Q+ takes a different approach. It starts with an engineered base (often incorporating recycled glass) and applies high-definition digital printing to create intricate veining, color variation, and surface detail with exceptional clarity. The result is a surface that closely replicates the nuanced look of natural stone while retaining the practical performance expected from modern engineered materials.

Because the pattern is printed at a high resolution, the veins and movement appear sharper and more dimensional than many conventional printed or pigmented surfaces. This technology allows for designs that feel more authentic in both large-scale kitchen installations and smaller vanity applications.

Practical advantages for kitchens and baths

Like other quality engineered surfaces, Q+ is non-porous, resistant to stains, and does not require sealing. It is available in 2cm thickness and is suitable for both residential and commercial use. The printed surface delivers consistent appearance across slabs, which is helpful when matching multiple countertops or coordinating with cabinetry finishes.

For property managers and multi-unit projects, the combination of realistic aesthetics and low-maintenance performance is particularly useful. For homeowners, it offers a high-end stone look with the durability and ease of care that busy kitchens demand.

Design flexibility

Q+ uses high-definition inkjet printing to produce more realistic stone patterns with sharper veining and greater detail than many traditional engineered surfaces. MSI develops these designs in-house, so the available looks range from soft, subtle movement to bolder, more dramatic veining. Designers simply select the Q+ pattern that best fits the project. Because the veins are printed rather than running fully through the body of the slab, edge details and mitering still need careful planning during fabrication.

A new option available through Atlantis Kitchens

As a company that has supplied kitchen cabinets and related products across Long Island and the greater New York area since 1987, we look for surfaces that perform well alongside the cabinetry we recommend. MSI’s Q+ collection stands out for the level of visual realism it achieves through high-definition print technology, combined with the everyday durability expected from engineered countertops. We are pleased to offer Q+ as one of the surface options our clients can consider.
